What is Motivosity?
You’ve probably heard of some pretty cool employee recognition programs – Whether that’s O.C. Tanner, or Awardco, or Workhuman, or something else entirely! They’re all over the place and can be a really great tool to help keep your team members motivated and happy in their jobs.
I don’t think I really need to cover why an employee recognition program can help your company. The research is out there, and, I’ll just tell you from experience, it will really help you to grow and to retain your people.
This article will focus on the platform that we use at Lemonade Stand and why we use this wonderful tool.
The software that we use is called Motivosity. Trust me, it’s the best. Let me tell you why.
Team members thank team members
One of the things that we love most about Motivosity is that all of our team members are able to use it to say thank you to each other. Motivosity isn’t just about executives or managers sending out spot bonuses or little prizes to people. It’s actual purpose is for people to take an extra minute to thank somebody else for helping them out with something.
This can be done in a few ways. One (the most fun in my opinion) is through “giving money.” Each month a little bit of cash is added to each of our team member’s accounts specifically for giving away to other people. When you say “thank you” on the platform, there is an option to include a little bit of cash with it. Rather than just saying, “thank you,” you say thank you and throw a buck or two someone’s way. Those little bucks here and there eventually add up, and our team members get some pretty nice little bonuses just from saying thanks to each other.
This encourages people to think outside of themselves a little bit. They don’t get anything in return. This isn’t a “I give you a dollar, you give me a dollar,” type of program. This is for our team members to take time each month to think about the people who have helped them to get their job responsibilities done and gives them the ability to thank them.
Not all “thank you’s” have to be sent with cash either! You can just use the platform as a great way to reach out to someone, say “thanks,” and get them some proper recognition from the rest of the team by highlighting something that they did for you.
Our team has 100 percent participation in Motivosity! Part of that is because we have some amazing people on our team, but part of that is the way that Motivosity is built. It’s really, really cool!
Easy way to recognize
Another reason that we love Motivosity is because it is such a delightfully easy way to recognize people who deserve a little show and tell.
You can write out a little heart-felt message about why this person deserves some recognition. You can send it to them privately. You can make it public. You, and others, can comment on other people’s recognition posts. You can send some money with the recognition. You can even send a buck or two through a comment of someone else’s post. The ease and possibilities are endless!
As an admin or a manager, you can use Motivosity for any and every occasion in which someone needs to be recognized. Have a company trivia night? Up the scales by putting some Motivosity cash on the line. Spot bonuses? Done. Christmas or end-of-year bonuses? Absolutely. It can all be done with Motivosity. It can be personalized. It can be automated. Whatever you need it to be is what it will be!
“Thank you’s,” rewards, awards, highlights and More
There are so many ways that you can recognize people for the things that they do.
I’ve already talked about “Thank you’s” enough. I think you get the idea.
You can also use a feature for rewards or awards. You can set these up for whatever your company needs. You might want to reward your team members when they do certain things, or maybe you want to give them an award for an achievement that they have earned. Like everything else, you can tie cash to these forms of recognition. If someone gets a certification or a license that you need them to, why not include a little bit of cash for that along with an award detailing what they accomplished? Want to encourage your team to further themselves and develop themselves as people through reading? Maybe give a little incentive or a reward to those who read a certain book. You can completely customize this with whatever you want the reward/award to be as well as the compensation (if any) that you want to attach to it. Totally up to you!
You can also set things in place for certain milestones people hit. Reward them for work anniversaries or send them a little something for their birthday. You can automate things like this to ensure that they are happening when they need to happen. Don’t let anyone feel forgotten!
There are soooo many cool features to explore and different ways to recognize all of the amazing people on your team!
Innovative
This might be my absolute favorite part about Motivosity. The team is incredibly innovative. Let me tell you about a little thing they just released called the #thanksmatters card. This is a total game changer.
The #thanksmatters card is a debit card that is tied directly to the cash balance available in each of your team member’s individual Motivosity accounts. It works just like a normal debit card. As long as funds are available, your team members can use this whenever, wherever, and however they please. It is SO COOL! No more complicated gift or gift card redemptions. No more waiting around for fulfillment through different vendors. No more complication whatsoever. You win a prize of $500 from your company? It will be instantly available to you on your #thanksmatters card. You can carry it around with you and use it whenever. You might even forget that you were given a bonus at work. Then, when you’re out to dinner, you remember that you have your card with you, and, suddenly, that meal is on the company! The gratitude that you feel towards your company is always present, because you always have the card with you.
This is one of the coolest things I have ever heard of for employee recognition, and it literally changes everything.
Incredible Company Culture and Team
As a final note, at Lemonade Stand, we try really hard to only do business with really good people who are going to treat our team members with love and respect. It’s important to us to know that our team will be taken care of. This includes clients as well as vendors. We really care about who we are doing business with.
That being said, as I’ve gotten to know a few of the cool people who are involved with Motivosity, I’m happy to say that I would trust them to help us build up our team culture as I’ve been able to see a little bit of what their own culture is all about. They know how to take care of people over at Motivosity, and they have built up a really awesome team of really awesome people.
If you are looking for a great way to keep your own team members happy and to make them stick around, give Motivosity a try!
You’ll love it!!
